Vacuum Pump Repair

Repair of vacuum pump is a complex technological process, requiring from a specialist the necessary qualifications and experience. It should be noted that this type of device is notable for its high service life and reliability. However, in order to avoid unforeseen failures and breakdowns, routine preventive inspections of the unit and replacement of worn parts are required.

Vacuum Pump Repair

There are many reasons why a unit may fail, such as aggressive environment, wear of parts, intensity of use, but thanks to the uncomplicated design of the unit, it is often possible to make repairs of the vacuum pump with your own hands.

Common Types of Pump Faults

Despite the reliability and high service life of the vacuum pump, like any other equipment, the vacuum pump needs attention, namely preventive inspections, timely replacement of worn parts. The most vulnerable components are the glands, hoses, and diaphragms, so these parts should be given special attention. The pump casing, on the other hand, can last for many years without defects.

The most common faults of a vacuum pump are:
  • mechanical wear of elastic parts, such as glands and diaphragms;
  • the device does not switch off;
  • irregular intensity of liquid flow;
  • spontaneous activation of the pump;
  • unit fails due to lack of oil.

Mechanical Wear & Tear on Pump Components

Intensive operation of a pump at extreme conditions, aging of polymers, natural wear and tear of consumable parts leads to mechanical wear of parts that causes the vacuum pump to fail.

Most manufacturers of pumping equipment supply special repair kits which allow to eliminate the failure in the shortest possible time and are notable for their versatility. For example, in the automotive industry, the T4 model vacuum pump repair kit is widely used, which has become popular among motorists due to its good price-quality ratio and reliability. The kit includes the pump valves, diaphragm and various mounting elements. These are the parts that are most susceptible to wear and tear when the unit is running, but some repair kits also include the pump.

Problems with the Pump Turning On & Off

If the pump spontaneously turns on, the following conclusions can be drawn:
  • the pressure sensor is defective - in this case you need to replace it, this element is not repairable;
  • if there is air entrapment during operation - check thoroughly the system for leaks and check the liquid level where it is being drawn in;
  • lack of pressure in the tank - information about the current pressure is displayed on the manometer, which is included in the product;
  • replacement of the rubber diaphragm is required. You can determine the malfunction by pressing on the nipple in the rear compartment of the tank - if liquid is coming out, the diaphragm is defective.
These equipment malfunctions are also the cause of an uneven fluid supply.

Poor quality pumped liquid or an unadjusted relay can cause pump shutdown problems: a faulty product can pump liquid without even reducing capacity, but not shut down when required.

In the case of a home water supply system, the cause may be an oversaturation of water with calcified salts, or in the case of a car vacuum pump, the presence of foreign fractions that clog the control relay orifice. If even cleaning the relay hole and adjusting it does not solve the problem, you should contact professionals to conduct a thorough diagnosis and repair the pump.

Also common is a problem with switching on the pumping equipment due to improper power supply, or contamination of the sensor contact. In the first case, if there is a problem with the power supply to the pump, you should refer the problem to a professional, but in the second case you can clean the contact yourself. Faulty motor is also the cause of problems with turning on the product, this malfunction is easily identified by a characteristic smell of burning. Unfortunately, the motor is not repairable in most cases, which means that it will have to be replaced.

Types of Vacuum Pumps

During the production of vacuum forming devices, parts made of plastics and metals that are resistant to the chemical effects of the pumped substances are used. In addition, the structural elements must have sufficient strength. It is obligatory to fit all nodes, check tightness, so that surfaces do not let back gases. There are several types of pumps that are used for home and other purposes. Water Ring Vacuum Pumps The water-ring type of vacuum pump is one of the varieties of liquid-ring devices that are used to allow pure water to circulate. The device has a cylindrical shape and a rotor with vanes that rotates with a shaft that is off-center. Before the device is turned on, it is filled with liquid. When the motor is started, the impeller disperses it over the walls of the housing. A sickle-shaped vacuum zone is formed between the water and the rotor mechanism. Gas from the spigot is directed into it. The blades guide it along the shaft, and it comes out through an op...

What Type of Vactor Vacuum Truck is Right for You?

While each piece of vacuum equipment may perform different tasks, they are all designed to serve one purpose: to improve the infrastructure of the communities and industries. Combination trucks, hydroexcavation units, industrial vacuum loaders; there are plenty of machines to pick from when it comes to vacuum machines. Find the Vactor Sewer Cleaning Equipment That is Right For You. Combo and hydroexcavation trucks are designed to move wet and slurry material such as in cleaning sewer lines, storm drains, and catch basins using high-pressure water and a centrifugal vacuum system.
